Through hard work, dedication, and passion, our young skaters have proven themselves a force to be reckoned with amassing a host of national and international championships and awards. Way to go — SVPS is so proud of your persistence and effort paying off with your amazing wins!
I started Skating in early 1998 along with my elder brother and got that much fascinated that still continuing it. I still remember, my brother bought the learner skates and we use to share, and fight to take up the first turn. I traveled to Chandigarh first time to participate in the tournament as part of sub-Junior team but lost every badly and it acted as a turning point for us. We started practicing day and night, there was an era when skating was in my thoughts all the time. Eventually, I played my first National held in Vishakhapatnam and performed very well under the guidance of my Guru Mr. Michael. Participating in Skating had given me very useful analytical skills and kept me healthy and in great shape. Also, Skating built my confidence to succeed in my professional carrier and withstand any tuff situation. Finally, I moved to New Zealand for my higher studies in 2009 and then started playing again; currently, I am playing for my County Club. Lastly, I must say this would have not been possible without my respected coach and school.

Skating for me is not just a game, it is an emotion. A life where i actually lived upto the brim. Skating has always been an integral part of my life.My skates gave me the wings to fly high and achieve things that a lot many people dream of. I am thankful to god for everything i could accomplish at the rink. Whenever i come across any hurdle in my life; i close my eyes and think of the toughtest match i won at the rink; and say to myself if i could do that, I can overcome anything.
Where i had come to learn a game; i got a beautiful skating family with whom i still catch up and always jog upon memories of our golden time in skating.
lam honored to be included in this magazine. I still remember the days
when we were practicing for Tournament and it was challenging as well as exciting. This helped me boost my confidence in myself which has helped me in different stages of my life. I will give the credit for this to my family and of course to Vishal Sir who had really worked hard with us to achieve the national championship.

Hi, I am Puneet Chopra. Born and brought up in Yamunanagar, I began with Roller-Hockey in my school Swami Vivekanand High School Jagadhri. I was the first goalkeeper of my sub-junior team. It was a hard but fruitful journey. I used to wake up at 5 AM in the morning and practice with my team under the guidance of our coach Mr Vishal Bakshi. We won many District level competitions for our school and continued with the wins at the State level for team Yamunanagar. But my dream was yet far away. We practised hard for Nationals and the day arrived. We won Nationals for team Haryana and that too many times in a row. I travelled to various cities like Visakhapatnam, Kolkata, Kurukshetra, and Chandigarh and got a chance to meet new people.
Currently, I am running a startup in the IT sector in Chandigarh but the sportsman in me is still alive. My disciplined and hardworking nature helps me achieve my business goals and all thanks to my roller-hockey days that made me a strong person. It taught me teamwork, the art of networking and quick decision-making. I would advise the younger generation to get involved in at least one sport and take out time to enjoy that. It really helps you in becoming a better version of yourself.
