Independence Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotism at SVPS. It is heralded with the ceremonial flag-hoisting ceremony, wherein our students, teachers, and staff come together to salute the tricolor and pay homage to the freedom fighters of our nation. Nationalistic songs, beautiful poems and brilliant speeches on this year day fill the atmosphere.

Further cultural festivities ensue with a variety of traditional folk dances, skits and plays illustrating India’s fight for freedom. Besides essay-writing, poster-making, and quiz competitions that test our students on India’s history and culture. Fourteen festive hours later — flag-waving mirth and a camaraderie unencumbered by politics; amidst the parades, pageantry and fireworks below — the day ends, again, a time of national pride and of recommitment to the ideals of freedom, justice and equality on which our nation was founded.
